Mobile World Congress 2018 was held on 25th February, 2018 with initial press day in Barcelona, Spain. Just like every year, there were rumors of long-awaited smartphone launches in the event. And being the biggest mobile show in the world the techies were looking forward for the innovative gadgets of this year from this show. What is MWC?
Mobile World Congress is an annual trade show run by GSMA and is held in Barcelona, Spain. MWC is the launch platform for mostly flagship smartphones of companies. A part from smartphones, the show also showcases a range of smartwatches, tablets, connected devices etc.
Whereas, GSMA also invites guest speakers from various Tech companies from across the globe to talk about the innovative technologies like 5G, AI, VR etc. in order to provide essential knowledge to the relevant people.

Let’s quickly review all the flagship mobile phones launched at this year Mobile World Congress 2018:
Samsung at MWC 2018-Launched Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus
2017 was both a tough and good year for the leading Korea-based smartphone company, Samsung. Tough because Samsung Vice Chairman ‘Jay Y Lee’ was found guilty for corruption and underwent a few months trial which somehow damaged the company profile. While on the other hand, its flagship launch Galaxy Note 8 earned very good revenues for the company.
But this year, Samsung’s expectations were again quite high from its 2018 first flagship devices i.e. Samsung Galaxy S9 & S9 Plus. The leaks of both these smartphones have showcased some very innovative specifications anf fans were desperately waiting for these phones. Before the launch, Samsung had confirmed a new AI-ready chip technology for Galaxy S9 & S9+ along with it 4G and 6GB RAM for s9 and s9 Plus respectively. But after launch, various other surprising features of S9 & S9 Plus amazed the Samsung lovers.

Another quite innovative gadget expected to launch by Samsung at MWC 2018 was “the Folding smartphone.” But we haven’t heard about its launch.
Huawei at MWC 2018
Huawei has some mixed history at MWC as it does not always launch its flagship devices rather sometimes it launches its new mobile phones only. The latest GIF teaser on Huawei Twitter account is stating the “Experience New Horizons” slogan. But the company didn’t launch any device rather it launched it’s premium laptops in the event.
Sony at MWC 2018
Sony Xperia XZ Premium 2 were highly expected to be launched at this MWC. Reason being that Sony has launched the predecessor of this smartphone “Sony Xperia XZ Premium” at MWC 2017. And the company launched XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact while featuring an all-new design and style.
Both these phones feature the “Qualcomm Snapdragon 835”, with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage for Sony lovers.
HMD Global at MWC 2018
The 2017 show of MWC proved to be the brand’s uplifting event as the nostalgic Nokia 3310 was the show stopper at that year. This year, HMD Global launched a series of smartphones but no Nokia 8 Sirocco stole the show with its amazing specifications. The smartphone has Gorilla Glass 5 glass and 5.5-inch Quad HD p-OLED display, Snapdragon 835 processor, 6 GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It’s water resistant and comes with various other impressive features.
Other big names like Google, HTC, and BlackBerry etc. also launched their smartphones and bes products at Mobile World Congress 2018
