Senior politician and PPP leader Nadeem Afzal Chan join PTI on Wednesday after a meeting with party Chief Imran Khan at his residence of Bani Gala. He will announce his official joining in a public show in Sargodha on 25th April.
He visited Khan to give him an invitation to his residence in Sargodha on the date of his official announcement.
Nadeem Afzal Chan was a significant figure of People’s party who contested elections from NA 64 in 2008 general elections and won the seat. He lost the seat in 2013 but managed to get enough vote to establish his influence in the constituency. PPP faced a really bad time in 2013 elections especially from Punjab and even the senior members, Yousaf Raza Gillani, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Qamar Zaman Qaira and other renowned figures lost their elections badly.
Senior PPP Leader Nadeem Afzal Chan Joins PTI
PPP is undergoing a serious crisis for the last 5 years and has not won a single by-election in Punjab. Chan was an important senior member and a close aide to former president Asif Zardari and was also serving as a General Secretary of Punjab from PPP. Previously, Firdous Ashiq Awan Nazar Gondal had also joined PTI.
The meeting also carried the discussion about the current political situation of the country. Chan also praised Imran Khan for his efforts to highlight corruption. The rumors of Nadeem Afzal Chan joining PTI were already popular and it was expected that he will join them soon.
The meeting was attended by senior party leaders, Jahangir Tareen, Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Amir Kiyani .
The impact of this decision could spark a new spirit in the party and might pave the way for “awaited candidates” to join the team. There are double-minded candidates from top political parties who are indecisive about whom to join in the wake of a troubled period in PML (N) and PPP. We might see more electable from Punjab and other parts of the country to join Imran Khan’s force for General Elections 2018.
