Imran Attended Lowest Number of Assembly Sessions-FAFEN NA report. The elected leaders are required to represent their people in the Assembly session and speak for them.  A few days earlier “Free and fair election network” published the attendance report of the lower house. The report shows that the average attendance of the legislators in the lower house per day sitting dropped about thirteen percent (13%) in the last five years. This decline shows the general disinterest of various political leaders to participate in parliamentary business.

Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf chairman Imran Khan has short attendance. He showed up for only 18 sessions while according to FAFEN NA report, 468 sittings were held over the last five years. One hundred sittings were suspended due to lack of quorum. Many times the legislators and the chairman ignored when the quorum was visibly lacking. Sitting per session in the first year was 222 legislators (65 percent) dropped to an average of 192 (56 percent) legislators per sitting in the final year. The attendance of the sessions held on the middle of the week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) was greater than that of the start of the week. The attendance of the legislators also fluctuated on weekends.

FAFEN report on comparing the attendance record of the legislators, Prime minister, and party chief whips shows that the average attendance graph dropped when the Prime minister and party chief were absent in the sessions. This lack of attendance of legislators in the sessions also re veils that nobody is strictly following the parliamentary laws. According to the law, a parliamentarian will lose his/her seat if he/she is absent from the session consecutively forty days. Though in 2014 protest against the government the parliamentarian who were protesting were absent more than forty consecutive days the house did not process motions against them. There should be an advance application for taking leave according to the rule but the parliamentarian did not bother to file an application because of weak enforcement of the rule and not penalizing the parliamentarian.

FAFEN NA report shows that federal minister for parliamentary affair Sheikh Aftab Ahmad and PML-N MNA Kiran Haider attended most of the sessions. They attended 461 out of total 468 sessions. Parliamentary secretary Raja Javed Ikhlas was present in 425 sittings while Minister of State for Finance Rana Mohammad Afzal was at 412 sittings. Among the list of those having poor attendance, the name of PML-N MNA and former Sindh chief minister Ali Mohammad Khan Mahar is at the top of the list of low attendees, attending only 18 sittings. Hamza Shahbaz attended only 26 sittings. Faryal Talpur came to the house only 42 times. Former Prime minister Zafarullah Khan Jamali and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) MNA Asad Sikandar showed up in 61 sittings.
