Bold Imran Khan Expels 20 Members Involved in Horse Trading. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman, Imran Khan expels 20 MPAs for selling their vote in the Senate elections. Imran Khan stressed that the Show Cause Notices will be issued to these members to give them a chance to come clean out of this. These cases will be referred to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) upon not receiving satisfactory answers. PTI chief also called for the same treatment from other party heads toward the corrupt members.

The dynamics of Pakistani Politics revolves around giving tickets to electable. Politicians who have been a member of any assembly carry weight. Every party finds it a pride to welcome such members into their team, rightly so, because they have a vote bank and can win you a seat.

PTI’s decision to oust 20 such members looks a bad deal on a surface. All of them are existing assembly members and can potentially win their constituencies. By taking this historical and virtuous step, Khan has done something which is compatible with party slogan and constitution. Corruption is the main concern for PTI and they have practically proved that they want to eradicate it at the cost of losing dozens of members.

There was a huge criticism on horse trading from all the parties participated in the elections but Imran Khan went one step ahead to stand true to his promises of corruption-free Pakistan.  It was an extravagant move which could only be afforded by someone who truly values the sanctity of the vote. However, we should see this move as an exemplary treatment to those who are financially and morally dishonest.
