2: Ghunzakhe — Cookies

This traditional delicious sweet dish is made in Dir, Malakand, Shangla, Kohistan, Swat, Buner, Swabi, Mardan and Charasadda. It is deemed a specialty of Yousafzai tribe both in Afghanistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but it is also famous equal among other Pakhtun tribes too.

5: Dum Pukht

Dum pukht can be interpret as ‘dum’ meaning ‘breathe in’ and ‘pukht’ meaning ‘to cook’. Dum Pukht cooking technique is allied with the Northern Indian subcontinent. In this famous dish meat and vegetables are cooked over a low flame, generally in dough-sealed container with the help of few special spices.

But the other sources, however, it state that dum pukht appears to be based on a traditional Peshawar method of cooking dishes buried in sand.

6: Aushak

This dish is actually prepared with fine dough that is filled with Afghan leek, mint yogurt and minced meat of beef or you can also use lamb. Sauce of this dish is made with vegetable or olive oil including finely chopped onion, garlic cloves, salt, black pepper, paprika, coriander & tomato sauce.

7: Bolani

Bolani or Perakai, is a flat-bread and well known dish in northern areas of Pakistan. It is usually made for special occasions like birthday parties, engagement parties or holidays. It is baked or fried with a vegetable filling. People mostly present it with plain yogurt or mint yogurt.

Mantu is another appetizing meat dish of KPK. It is just like a type of dumpling but its size and shape vary significantly depending on the geographical location. Lamb or Beaf meat is used in this dish.  Local people usually present this dish with a mixed vegetable sauce to eat.

9: Lamb with Spinach

9th famous dish of KPK is Lamb with Spinach. This dish is an amazing and delicious combination of meat and vegetable. It is very healthy and good nutrition value food.

10: Lamb Chops
